Contributor: Harvey Taylor Company: GYYR Year 2000 Compliancy Report GYYR is aware of the concern our customers have been regarding the year 2000. Many customers have asked how various GYYR products will handle the time & date in the year 2000 and beyond. Most GYYR equipment built in the last 10 years, including Time Lapse VCRs will not have a problem with the year 2000. All GYYR, Inc. products that contain a time and date-keeping function have been tested to and found to conform to the British Standards Institution DISC PD2000-1, "A Definition of YEAR 2000 Conformity Requirements", as follows: "The definition of Year 2000 conformity shall mean that neither performance nor functionality is affected by dates prior to, during and after the year 2000." In particular: Rule 1. No value for current date will cause any interruption in operation. Rule 2. Date-based functionality must behave consistently for dates prior to, during and after the year 2000. Rule 3. In all interfaces and data storage, the century in any date must be specified either explicitly or by unambiguous algorithms or inferencing rules. Rule 4. Year 2000 must be recognized as a leap year." In GYYR equipment, the year of the Time/Date display can be set from 00-99. January 1st, 2000 will show as: "01/01/00." January 1st, 2002 will show as: "01/01/02." Etc. GYYR engineering performed tests on the following equipment: Note: The year 2004 was tested as a leap year. The year 2015 was chosen as a reasonable life span of the equipment listed. There is a CHART that shows the test results of GYYR CCTV equipment models inculding some older models that are still likely to be in use. In additon to the equipment listed in the chart, all subsequent models manufactured after 1/01/97 will be tested and designed to conform to the British Standards Institution DISC PD2000-1 and GYYRs own engineering standards. |
